Full course description
This is a self-paced course that allows educators to facilitate students to be problem-solvers, creative thinkers, team members with excellent collaboration and communication skills and masters of the content standards. Educators will discover how Design Thinking and, specifically, the framework provided by the Engineering Design Process can assist with the culture shift that allows students to think creatively and with empathy while designing solutions to challenges across grade levels and subject areas.
This course is designed so that concepts learned, and resources introduced, can be applied the next day in any school setting. This course is self-paced so participants can set their own schedule!
It is designed to fit the needs of busy educators; one can stop and start this course anytime during the 90 day enrollment period. You should expect to spend a total of 8 hours working through the course content and earn 8 PGP’s. Once you have completed all course modules you will receive your certificate of completion.

Learning Intentions for this course are:
- · Discover and understand why Making Thinking Visible is beneficial for advancing student understanding.
- · Explore Thinking Routines that can enable teachers and students to "see" the thinking involved in making meaning and deeper learning.
- · Learn about the importance of related documentation, student reflection, and other considerations that lead to the development of a Culture of Thinking.
- · Explore free useful resources, and examples of routines in action.
